My Vision
We already know that nutrition and exercise are essential. But that’s not enough. I investigate the underlying causes and conditions at the core of your health complaints using functional evaluation tools and clues collected during an extensive intake process. This information will identify nutrient deficiencies, movement dysfunction, and healing opportunities within the body's digestive, hormone, detoxification, energy, and nervous systems. Once options are revealed, recommendations focus on lifestyle factors such as adequate sleep, nutrition, stress management, exercise, and relationships.
As a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (certified through the Nutritional Therapy Association) and Functional Medicine Practitioner (certified through the Institute of Functional Medicine), I am qualified to assist you in your healing journey. Your individualized program will encourage a whole foods-based approach specially tailored to your needs. Since you and I might have different reactions to, let’s say, tomatoes, we have to identify the response and determine if the tomatoes are interfering with your goals, then customize your plan accordingly. What you eat does matter.
As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I can evaluate your current movement patterns, restrictions, and imbalances that may hinder your wellness. If appropriate, I will provide unique recommendations on corrective exercises based on your goals. This includes investigating where the restrictions originate and why they exist. Dealing with joint pain, injury, headaches, or even pains from digestive issues can wear you out. It’s easy to get discouraged, trapped in a downward spiral feeling like you can't fix one thing without flaring up the other. Like your nutrition plan, learn what movements your body will respond to reach your goals. How you move does matter.
You will be amazed to learn how your body interacts with the environment, food, and movement that ultimately determines your energy level, anxiety, mood, pain levels, digestion process, and so much more.
“I’m no where near perfect. So I would never expect you to be either.” -Tara
